This pendant is a tribute to the sacred duality of the Belladonna plant—the alluring beauty of the "bella donna" and the unyielding power of the goddess Atropos. It's a charm for those who walk the Poison Path, unafraid to confront the shadows to achieve profound transformation and strength.
Suspended on an 18" chain, a goddess rises from a tangle of hair, her face touched with the potent magic of the earth. A talisman of beauty found in darkness. At her heart lies the deadly beauty of belladonna, its essence represented by twin faceted black spinel "berries". This is a plant with a storied history, deeply entwined with concepts of beauty, transformation, and danger. Its name, "beautiful woman" in Italian, alludes to its historical use by women to dilate their pupils, a signal of interest and beauty.
Artist's Note: The work I bring to you is conceived and created entirely in my Asheville, North Carolina studio. It is infused with inspiration from my deep connection and appreciation of Nature, combined with my curiosity, and a desire to honor the balance of dark and light within each of us. Each piece I craft reflects quality, artisanship, and just a touch of magic.
